Nye County Update Paul Killpatrick stated that 鶹ӰԺ has officially assumed control of the administration of the Pahrump Valley Center. 鶹ӰԺ needs to continue to be proactive. It would be beneficial to create a calendar and business plan. Garry Heberer and some computer techs were in Pahrump recently to put together the IAV rooms. The phone lines should be in any day now. Mike McFarlane and Garry Heberer will go down next week to discuss job descriptions. Paul and John Rice met last week with Al Daniels. John Rice stated that all of the marketing is being referred here. John has been working with the Pahrump TV station on a package for the year which includes time on their local shows. The next schedule will have Welcome Pahrump!! on the cover. The schedule will be delivered to every household in Nye County. It was recommended that the Pahrump employees be here in August for the in-service training. NACCE Membership Paul Killpatrick reported that 鶹ӰԺ has an institutional membership to the National Association for Community Colleges Entrepreneurship (NACCE) and would like Presidents Council to recommend five representatives that would have access to their online network, subscribe to the list-serve, and receive discounts to attend the NACCE annual conference (January 8-11, 2007 in Orlando, FL). Presidents Council recommended Jay Larson, Pat Warren, Squy Wallace, Glen Tenney, and Danny Gonzales. Board of Regents Meeting in August Paul Killpatrick reported that the Board of Regents will have their August meeting at 鶹ӰԺ on August 17 and 18. Regent Dorothy Gallagher wants to host the dinner on Thursday evening at Biltoki. Curtis Steiger will be playing that evening on campus at 7:00 p.m. Contract Training Space Shortage Bret Murphy updated Presidents Council on the CTE program and on the work he has been doing with Newmont for their employee training program. CTE currently has eighty-two students enrolled. We need one more diesel instructor to handle the regular diesel students, but with the Newmont project coming online we would need three more diesel instructors for that part alone. Bret has been spending at least two full days a week on the Newmont training project working with Pat OBrien. He feels that this is a huge project and we need to be a little more proactive and aggressive. We do have a shortage of space. Newmont wants to start testing their employees on July 31. Newmont executive Brant Hinze is talking to other mining companies to buy in, as they want it to be a community effort. 鶹ӰԺ recommends Newmont having some night classes for their employee training. Dr. Killpatrick will inquire about using the National Guard Armory. January 2007 is when the actual training will begin, so space is a critical issue. Presidents Council talked about some options for space utilization and will take a tour of the campus after the PC meeting today. The music annex could be utilized. A large space where heavy equipment can be stationed is also necessary. Paul will call Brant Hinze of Newmont to set up some meetings so that we can get some firm commitments. Mike McFarlane reported that Newmont is still interested in discussing the Underground Miner Training Academy. We also need to get the inventory list of possible available equipment from the Tonkin Springs mine from Ann Carpenter. Department and Director Responsibilities Mike McFarlane presented the guidelines for department interactions with campus directors for review. The department chairs and site directors all agreed to follow the same procedures. Item will be brought back at the next Presidents Council meeting for approval. Miscellaneous Linda Uhlenkott said that the Faculty Senate is still discussing the Job Abandonment policy. Dan Klaich is taking a slower approach on this now. There is some question as to how this policy will affect tenure. Paul Killpatrick said that since Sean Thompson has resigned as webmaster for 鶹ӰԺ. He was also the Phi Theta Kappa advisor. Please be thinking of a replacement for PTK advisor. Dr. Killpatrick was proud to announce that 鶹ӰԺ student Paul Connolly was the recipient of the Coca Cola Scholarship. John Rice will arrange for PR for this. John Rice reported that Career Focus and the 鶹ӰԺ fall schedule will be in the mail on July 24. He reported that we will be taking a look at the web master job description and revising Mike McFarlane reported that we are recruiting for a health and human services director to develop the program, and then to become the programs instructor/coordinator. We are also recruiting for a broadcast technology instructor. - jkWoprsuvxy} jU6>*(67 klVW^ & F ^`$a$o|st()noqrtuwxz{|} & F 1h/ =!"#$% i8@8 NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH <A@< Default Paragraph Font@@ Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJ,, Header !, , Footer !} z z7 }4(67k l VW~000000000 00 00 00 00 0000 00 0 } } |@ @ 0( B S ?H0( nooqqrrtuwxz{~ , , 5 > X w (`nv '.m~ Susanna DorrfC:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\__gbc\_drafts\administration\files\07-11-06-PCMINUTES.doc u08>dxP$HHT^2~AtuE q nhQxB1q]p@h^`56o(hH.h ^`hH.h $ $ ^$ `hH.h@ @ ^@ `56hH.h ^`hH.h L^`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h PLP^P`LhH.h^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohpp^p`OJQJo(hHh@ @ ^@ `OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHoh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJo(hHh^`OJQJ^Jo(hHohPP^P`OJQJo(hHh^`56o(hH.h ^`hH.h $ $ ^$ `hH.h@ @ ^@ `56hH.h ^`hH.h L^`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h PLP^P`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h pLp^p`LhH.h @ @ ^@ `hH.h ^`hH.h L^`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h PLP^P`LhH. hh^h`hH) ^`hH) 88^8`hH) ^`hH() ^`hH() pp^p`hH() ^ `hH. @ @ ^@ `hH. ^ `hH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h $ $ ^$ `hH.h @ @ ^@ `hH.h ^`hH.h L^`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h PLP^P`LhH.h^`56o(hH.h ^`hH.h $ $ ^$ `hH.h@ @ ^@ `56hH.h ^`hH.h L^`LhH.h ^`hH.h ^`hH.h PLP^P`LhH. uT^2q nhP$B1quE>@*5 @Q}p@UnknownGz Times New Roman5Symbol3& z Arial5& zaTahoma?5 z Courier New;Wingdings"1h<&<&F"#!0do 2QHPGREAT BASIN COLLEGEGBC User Susanna DorrOh+'0 , H T ` lxGREAT BASIN COLLEGEREA 鶹ӰԺ UserIN BC BC Normal.dot Susanna DorrOLL2saMicrosoft Word 9.0@@^^J@|F@|F՜.+,0 hp| 鶹ӰԺ" GREAT BASIN COLLEGE Title "#$%&'(*+,-./03Root Entry Fej51TableCWordDocument" SummaryInformation(!DocumentSummaryInformation8)CompObjjObjectPoolejej FMicrosoft Word Document MSWordDocWord.Document.89q
