Approval of Minutes: ACTION Laura Pike motioned to approve the meeting minutes of October 16, 2020. Daniel Murphree seconded the motion. Motion approved. Standing Committee Reports: Academic Standards & Assessment. No Report Bylaws....Verbal & Written Report The committee is continuing work from last spring and has been discussing the restructuring of the departmental votes and how the departments are grouped for equitable distribution of the voting rights for next semester. Article V will be brought before the Senate at the December meeting. The documents were included in the November meeting packet, for faculty to review before the December meeting. Compensation & Benefits..Verbal & Written Report, Action Item Four recommendations were brough before Faculty Senate regarding the workload policy: RECOMMENDATION: The committee recommends administration begin its comprehensive strategic planning process to help with the establishment of meaningful and equitable workload policies and compensation. RECOMMENDATION: The current workload policy is to remain intact until such a time that strategic decisions about workload and compensation can be made. The committee may make recommendations for additional compensation in instructional areas where significant change and responsibility has occurred. RECOMMENDATION: Faculty Overload Payments. The Committee recommends the Faculty Senate formally request administration compensate overload for full time faculty members at the rate established in Section 4 of the current workload policy. RECOMMENDATION: The committee recommends faculty senate invite the Nevada Faculty Alliance to review the current workload policy and to make comparisons to the collective bargaining contracts agreed to at other NSHE institutions. The committee further recommends the Nevada Faculty Alliance make a detailed presentation of the collective bargaining process to faculty members. The Comp. and Benefits committee requested that the items also be brought before Leadership Council. ACTION: Tami Mette moved to take the policy revisions forward to Leadership Council. David Sexton 2nd the motion. 2 voting members abstained. Motion approved. Curriculum ReviewVerbal & Written Report The committee has been discussing changes to the Curriculum Review committee approval process. They would like the Curriculum committee reviews items as a committee before submitting to the Dean and Vice President. Doing so would simplify the approval process by not having to get approval signatures a second time if the committee finds errors that need to be corrected. The committee had Action items that were not identified as Action items, those items have been tabled until the December Faculty Senate meeting. Distance Education...No Report Gen Ed CommitteeWritten Report PersonnelWritten Report Strategic Planning ....No Report Unfinished Business: Information Only Strategic Planning Committee status: There have been some individuals identified to serve on the committee, there are more positions to fill and the faculty Senate Chair will send out an email request for volunteers. New Business: Dave Sexton brought forth the following item: Regarding faculty furloughs for the coming year, we think it would be reasonable to consider a corresponding change in faculty evaluation standards. Standards should be altered to reflect the amount of time faculty are expected to take off, and doing so would enable faculty to actually take that time off without being concerned about how it mightaffect their evaluation ratings. This could also help compensate for the many other COVID-related obstacles experienced by many this year. In practice, this might mean lowering the number required to reach thelevels of "Excellent" and "Commendable" as they relate to faculty Professional, Service, and Management roles, or altering expectations in those areas to reflect the necessary cutbacks during this time ofcrisis. We propose that this issue be referred to the proper committee by Faculty Senate. Information Items: Classified Council The Cookbook price has changed.
