The presentation was included in the meeting packet. Vice President Sibert clarified wording in a message that she had sent out over the summer regarding the operating reductions, specifically the additional provisions that had been suspended. The only provisions that have been suspended are the online multipliers for FY21, to assist with the budget reductions. Vice President Sibert was asked to clarify furlough days. Furlough days are only in effect for the second half of the current fiscal year and end June 30, 2021. There are no exceptions to the furloughs, all employees will be taking furlough days regardless of funding source. Senate Chair Report: .. Verbal, Written Brian gave tips on how to avoid virtual meeting fatigue. He summarized the Leadership Council meeting and confirmed the items that were brought before Leadership Council by the Faculty Senate. A summary of the Council of Chairs meeting was given. A written copy of the Chairs report will be uploaded to the Faculty Senate webpage. Approval of Minutes: ..ACTION Dave Sexton moved to approve the meeting minutes of September 18, 2020, Thomas Bruns seconded the motion. Motion approved. Standing Committee Reports: Academic Standards & AssessmentWritten Report Bylaws...Written Report Compensation & Benefits..ACTION NSHE procedures and guidelines manual; chapter 3, section 6: Summer Term Salary Schedule. Strategic Planning No Report Unfinished Business: Information Only New Business: Strategic Planning Committee status has been put on hold until Vice President Rivera returns. Early Course Publishing Getting a sense of how the Faculty feel about early course publishing. There was clarification on when the courses will be opened. Courses will not be opened for assignment submissions. Information Items: Classified Council Sarah Wilkie reminded the senate of the Boo Gram fundraiser and the Classified Council Cookbook recipe contribution. The Classified Council is working to establish the recognition of an NSHE level Outstanding Classified person. Continuing Ed Written report in packet. Child care Center Advisory Board Lynette Macfarlan has been selected as the representative. The child center advisory will be meeting once a month and has new members from the community. The childcare center serves 101 children in Elko and 11 in Carlin. All CDC guidelines are met. The childcare center continues to hold a 5 star rating. Announcements: Included in the packet is a Question 1 info sheet. There is also an NFA article on Question 1. Open enrollment starts October 26th The Theater program is doing a series of 10-minute one act plays. A link to the plays will be placed on the Theaters Facebook page. Good of the Order: Hurricane Help for Students; Diane Wrightman reached out to the students in the Hurricane area and one student lost everything. You can reach out to Laurie Walsh regarding help to the students or the Student Government. NSHE sponsored Blood Drive, November 6, 2020. In the Fitness Center from 8:30 am 6:30 pm. The Humanities Center sent out a survey link wanting to gather information about how they can help Faculty in integrating Humanities content in their courses. Early voting starts October 17th and lasts all the next week from 8am to 6pm. Reminder: the Nursing Department is partnering with the hospital for a drive trough flu shot. It is free, but they are asking for a donation of nonperishable food items. Title IX training has been finalized and an email will be sent out regarding the mandatory training.
